lyrics

I tried to dig down deep in the sand to find you there
then I saw you right above my head

What am I God?
Am I a fragment of nothing from nothing before,
And when I saw the sun from the opposite side
was it casting a shadow to keep me from burning
or to keep me inside?
And for a fragment of time, I would recite a sonnet
to tell God I'm a good man
And maybe He'd speak back to affirm me inside
I couldn't begin to believe

Higher than I thought I'd find you there
Between my ears
What am I but dirty water
blurred out my reflection
I can't see myself

I saw the sun from the opposite side
but I could barely see you there
We looked at the inside, deep in my bones
to find that I've been screaming without a sound

God am I just wasting my time?

Can I wake up
Can I wake up
Can I wake up
and can I pull you down

And I still bend my back and empty my insides
hoping that you'll come out though my chest
And I swore to change it all, but God were you there?
Where are you now?
